Flying Models

This is the part of model-airplane building where the real excitement begins. An airplane is not truly an airplane unless it flies. There is great variety in the types of models built for flight. They range from the simplest hand-launched glider to very complicated radio-controlled helicopters.
Some are scale models of real airplanes. But others are special aircraft designed for contests in which the models are judged for flight duration, precision maneuvers, or speed. Flying models are classified according to the way they are controlled in flight. The three categories of flying models are: free flight, control line, radio control.
